Our registered homeopathic medical practitioner Dr Elani Wentzel (MHSc CM), provides professional medical care for the whole family. WHAT IS HOMEOPATHY?

Homeopathy is a holistic medical profession based on the law of similars (like-cures-like) founded by Samuel Hahnemann in the late 18th century [1] That is to say that homeopathy has been a therapeutic system that makes use of natural substances to stimulate autoregulation and self-healing processes in the body [2].

HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINE

The medicine is prepared with a process known as potentization. Potentization is serial dilution and shaking of the substance to extract the medicinal properties of the substance[2]. The substances from which homeopathic medicine is made are derived from plants, minerals, and animal[3].

POPULARITY AND RESEARCH

The popularity of homeopathy increased in the 19th century due to its success in the management of epidemics however declined during the 20th century. The popularity started increasing again around the late 20th and early 21st century. Homeopathy makes use of highly diluted medicine; this has led to homeopathy being perceived as controversial. However there is research in the form of randomized control trials and meta-analysis studies which suggest that homeopathy has action that are not placebo[1].
